Tlie Minister for Railways, replying to a question whether he will further accelerate the speed of the mail tram from New Plymouth to Wellington, even to the extent of shortening the time, from departure to arrival by an hour, stated that the journey time taken by the mail trans tetween New Plymouth - and Wellington has already been reduoed as much as it £ possible to do without cutting out a very considerable number ot Hie stopping plies en route, and this step would not commend itself to the residents of tbc various localities at which tie mail trains now stop.
