ADDIXGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, July 2K. There was a good attendance at Addington to-day. Really prime lire! sold at about last week's rates : medium ami inferior were easier, "■torp sheep sold well. There was m .•hai!i.r i*: the prices of fat lambs. Die fat sheep market opened rather full, nut unproved towards t the •lose. Bacon pigs brought lat« rates I mt porkers were not so firm. There, was a fair sale for dairy eows. Store sheep. Only a few offered, and all classes sold well, especially breeding ewes and hogpets. A line of 51, 6 and 8-tootli ewes, in lamb, made 3.is lfld, IWS sold at 235, and 169 made. 20s ; SO wethers made 19s 9d, RO huggeis 18s, and S3 15s 2d. Fat lambs.—Th.'re was a moderate yarding, mostly light and unfinished ;»nd they brought about late rates. Tegs made 19s 6d to 2fls Mil standard weights IBs to 19s. Fat sheep. The yarding was the largest for some weeks, and was of ;ood av >ragc quality. The bidding was slack at the opening, export buyers mrt operating to any extent, anr', prices showed a decline, especially for anything riot really prime, 'towards the close there was an improvement., especially in prime ewes and heavy weight wethers. Prime heavy wethers 21s to 275, medium weights 13s till to 23s (id, light and mlinishrd 19s 6d to 21s, prime hea- • v ewes 22s to 255, good 19s to 2ls 6d, aged and medium lis to 18s, irime merino wetbers 18s to 21s 3d. military from 14s 3d.
Fat cattle.—22o penned, of which considerably less than half were really prime. The sale dragged till towards Hie close, when there was an improvement. Prices for really .prime quality showed little change, hut medium and inferior beef was easier. A line of steers front Mr J. U. Reid (OanowieV made £lO 15s to £ll 17s 6d, 18 from the Peninsula £$ 15s to £ll 17s Bd, 12 from Mr G. O. Holmes (Tai Tapu) £7 17s 6d to £9 ss, and 13 from Mr A. J. Bardling (Lansdowne) £6 17s 6d to £9 as p. other steers brought £6 5 to £ll 17s Gd, heifers £5 to £9, cows £4 5s to £7 ss—equal to 20s to 22s for prime and a few extra to 235. medium 18s to 20s, and cow and inferior 16s to 17s 6d per 1001b. A good yarding of veal calves sold at 7s 6d to £2 18s.
Store and dairy cattle.—Only a' lew small lots of. store cattle were I yarded, and sales were not sufficient to afford quotations. There was a fairly large entry of dairy cows, and a good sale for useful sorts at £7 to £8 ins, extra good to £9 10s, other sorts £1 lfls to £6 10s.
Pigs.—The entry of fat pip; was a fairly large.one, but there v.as not a very numerous yarding of stores, iml they were mostly small. Baconers sold at about lasf week's rates. Porkers were Easier, and tliere was nol much demand for stores. Eighty haconers sold at 35s to 40k, heavier 42s 6d to 49s Bd (equal to 3Jd to 3}d per It), light porkers 21s to 255. heavier 27s 6d to 32s (equal to 4d to 4Jd per ft), medium stores 12s 6d to 18s, weancrs 5s lo 9s fid.
