The Federal Parliament.
(Received July 26, 9.50 p.m.) 1 MELBOURNE, July Z«. The Federal Parliament re-asscmbl-ed to-day. Mr Deakin, in his policy statement, announced that the Ministry had decided to adhere practically to the policy sanctioned by the country at the last general election, and already sulsnitted to the House. This included taking over the debt of the States. Federal old age pensions, encouragement of rural occupation (in particular by means of preferential trade), bounties for new products, more speedy and cheaper transport of products, attraction of population, appointment of a High Commissioner, Navigation and Stripping Bill, Iron Bonus Bill, and the occam mall contracts question. The Budget will be framed on Tines outlined in 1904. It is proposed to continue the sugar bounty for a further period. The question of defence, in view o[ recent developments, will receive special attention. A long list ol minor Bills was also mentioned. On the motion of Mr G. H. Re-id, ex-Premier, the debate and House were adjourned.
