FIRE IN A POST OFFICE.

(Per Press Association.). . TIMARU, July 22. A. lire was discovered by an employee at six a.m., in the telephone room at the post office, under the mam tower. Id was promptly subdued, but not before many wires were fused byi the heat.. The telephone service will not be restored till Monday. The fire is said to have originatcd 'through a gas stove becoming overheated, ami causing the woodwork to catch. Hut for its speedv discovery the whole 'building would have been ifrstroyed.
