Tin' Taranaki County Council forwarded to Friday's meeting o! Llic Harbour Board copy of a letter received from the Railway Department with reference to the removal of stone from the foreshore. The Department would not raise any oii.iectioii to the Council removing stone from a stipulated area, viz., between Hay ley Hoad and the Breakwater wlieic ihere was private land between Ihe railway line ami the sea. The chairman thought it would he very unwise, to allow stone to l,e taken from tire beach. Sooner or later the Hoard would require all tiie available stone for reclamation purposes, lie regretted that lie could not agree to the Council's wishes, hut the interests of Hie Board must lie Watched. This was the general feeling of the Hoard, and the original adverse decision was adhered to.
