A meeting of the Mangorei Road Hoard was held in the. lower schoolroom on Friday.' 'Present,: Messrs 0, Gledhill (chairman), .1, Brown, U. .11. Herbert, C. Wells, anil A. Wfilsi llr Brown gave notice tha't at t>'w next meeting of the Hoard he. would move for tile striking of a. general rate of Jd in tho £. On the motion of Mr IHwvn, secotided by Mr Gledhill, it was agreed to write to the district engineer of roads. rei|tiesting him to ask tho Minister for Public Works to place the sum oi £-3W oil the supplementary estimates to construct tiirat portion of the proposed Barrett to Kent cross road, lying between the Mangorei and CarringtoirHonds. It was decided to represent to the Department that the settlers in the tipper end of the Jlangorei district ore willing to be rated >it {d in tho £ to provide interest anil siuking fund on a loan of £.j(Kl for the purpose, and, further, would agree to tho expenditure on the work being in Ijie hands .of the Government. It was further resolved to send a copy v>f the foregoing resolutiob to the -member for the district, anking him to use his best endeavours to get tho -ann placed tin the estimates. The secretary was instructed to wr Le to the Commissioner of Crown Lands reipiestiiig that Uv unsold portion of I the close;) road running into Mr Saxton's l gravel pit be reopened, as the Hoard need the site for a gravel reserve.
