A Man of Treasure.

A constable on duty in Klizahelh street, Welbourne, saw a man hanging in a lopsided fashion by one arm to an electric-lipht pole, while in a loud voice he apostrophised an imaginary audience, descant in;; on his lenormous wealth, and gesticulating wildly with his free arm. As the constable drew near his eye was caught by the gleam of a large diamond on the man's hand, ami a Hosier examination of the man showed | that he was wearing a diamond ring and a sapphire ring, both of great value. He had a diamond stud in his shin front, and a heavy gold chain shone across his vest. He was incapably drunk, so to protect him irom thieves the constable put him in a fab and drove him to tie watchhouse.
There it Was found that his name Was Israel Finestan, jeweller. The man would have been worth a small fortune to the first thief who met him. From one pocket were produced two packets of unset diamonds all of considerable value. In another were found lralf a dozen gold rings set with valuable stones ; and from another pocket tit,- constable drew out a Weighty packet, which, on being vpened, was found to contain nearly a pound weight of smelted Kold. In addition there were a liand- , . of Roland coins of various eounnes, ami receipts ami documents from various tanks. Attached to the iroM chain that had attracted the constable's attention was an expensive gold watch.
