NELSON. July 14. There was a tragic ending of a Court case at Murcbason this morning. Mr Kenrick was huldinK a sitting in Dmntie'b Hfcll, and the hearts*- of a case, Ncanic against Scweli. for the recovery of tw„ head of oattle was procctMlng, when Sewell became violently excited, and «nade a remark that aroused the Biispici l >n of the Court. The Magistrate thcreapoa reasonad w th him and advised Mm to go out and calm himself. Police Inspector Wilson and Constable Hcott followed Sowcll with the Intention of arresting hm, and whilst the inspector was talking to him Soweil fired an explosive which was in Us waistcoat pocket. Inspector Wilson was injur* by the explosion, aid r Elijah Bonn was seriously injured, while several bystanders were knocked sense'ess. Inspector Wilson and llr llunn were •landing alongside Sewell, and Constable Scott was standing behind the inspector, Sewcll'a body was blown to pieces, portions ix-nig pitted up a hundred yard* away. Downie's Hal was censMi rubly damaged, and .be windows in several houses along the street were broken. But for the Magistrate having advised Sewvll t»> leave the Court, a greater catastrophe must have occurred, for had Sewell fired the explosive in the boikfing' the heavy timbers of the roof would certainly nave fallen upon the people Ik-Jow. Dr. Conlott, of Beefton. has been sent tor to attena the injured. Later advices state that Mr Itunn has now regained consciousness, and bis recovery " regarded os more hopeful.
