In the House oi Lords, .luring the discussion arising from Mr Balfour's statement in reference to the impossibility of the invasion of England, Lord Roberts declared that the army, is as unfitted and unprepared for war as it was in 1898. He emphasised the insufficient musketry practice and the lack of a sufficiently efficient reserve. . . Lord Lansdowne, Foreign Minister, declared that the Defence Committee is determined to maintain the auxiliary forces 'both in strength and efficiency, to render them fit for their duties.
