MAN CRUSHED BY A LIFT.
HE DIES TWO HOCUS AFTER. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 10. The Colonel' held an inquiry at the Auckland Hospital this morning concerning the death uf Benjamin Jones, which occurred as the result of being crushed in a lift on Saturday at tlie premises of Messrs Harvey and Sons, tinsmiths. Dr. Ferguson, resident surgeon at the hospital, said when deceased Was admitted on Saturday morning he was semi-conscious. His breast bone was fractured, and his chest crushed jit, He died ahout two hours after admission, the cause of death boing fracture of the sternum and laceration of Ihe lungs. The jury returned ft verdict to the effect I hat the cause of death was purely accidental, no blame being attachable to anyone. They further expressed the opinion that Messrs Harvey and Sons had adopted every, reasonable precaution against accident by the lift. The jury also parsed a resolution of sympathy wlih I deceased's widow.
