He bit one six and ill fours. Seven for at!2. Ochre played a faultless iknings, and bis runs were obtained by hard driving. Colter was at the wickets only 25 minutes, and hit a sixer and seven tourers, but his innings was marred by two chances. Hampshire started badly. The first three wickets fell in .quick succession, the third going for 26. Jcphson was dismissed by a wonderful low-falling catch at first slip. Greig, who was batting excellently, compiled his half century in 65 minutes. t Scores :
(Received July 8, 8.10 p.m.) LONDON, July 7. Greig, after a further innings of an hour and a half, was dismissed .by a smart catch by Noble low down at point. The retiring batsman had displayed fine batting power, and his score included twelve (outers. Five for 111.
Wyctt was dismissed at the same total, and Perssc, after making 24, including five fourel's, was clean bowled at 145.
Stone ran up 29 in 40- minutes, and was then caught in slips by Hopkins. Nine for 212. Howell accounted tor Bladwin at 13, Mead remaining not out tor a well-hit 31.
The innings thus closed for 239. Requiring 381 to save an innings' defeat, Hampshire.began their second innings, and when stumps were drawn for the day had lost one wicket for 10.

Nswlaml, whoso hands were had was relieved.by Howell at the wickets, and Iredalc, the well known exSydney cricketer, fielded as substitute. The third wicket fell for 43 then Hill, with Stone, carried Ihe total to 121 before the separation was effected. Stone played carefully, and Hill played faultlessly, compiling 50 in as many minutes. Stone' was two and a half hours making his 56. Seven for 171. Bowell, who was next, played vigorously from the start, but eventually skied one lo Iredalc. His score included two hits for six each.
