(Per Press Association.) TIMARU. July 8. A well attended anil thoroughly representative meeting of South tJaiiIcrbury teaelicr.s was held here today, when Mr W. Davidson, of Dunetlin, and member of the Kxccutive of the New Zealand Educational institute, gave an c\plaiwUoii. Of lite superannuation scheme as recommended by the recent conference at Wellington. Mr Davidson most lucidly set out the maiu features of the scheme, and answered a ureal, •number of questions put by those present. A resolution was passed unanimously that Hie teachers of South Canterbury here assembled record their appreciation of the educational progress made in the colony during the past few years, especially as re--gards the adoption of a 'colonial scale of salaries ; that they approve of the recommendations of the recent conference on superannuation, and respectfully urge upon (he Government the desirability of placing upon the Statute Book, this session an Act embodying these recommendations. A copy of the resolution is to he forwarded to the Minister for Education, and to the South Canterbury M's.H.R.
