ACCIDENT ON A RACECOURSE,

A JOCKEY INJURED. (Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, July 7. In the running of the scconu Hack Flat race to-day. a serious accident occuried. Te Uku. in trying to get up on the inside, came down, one or two ot the other horses galloping over him. O'Neill (rider of Te Uku) was rendered unconscious. The stewards held an exhaustive enquiry on the allegation that the accident had resulted from a cross by Malonc, the rider of Flag, trying to shut out Te Uku. This was positively affirmed by two jockeys, but other evidence was in favour of Malonc, whom the stewards acquitted of intentionally causing the injury, hut gave him a severe reprimand. Latest reports state that O'Neill is progressing well.

For Wednesday the double wi.'l be the Wellington Steeplechase and Parliamentary Handicap, and on Saturday the coupled events will be ihe July Steeplechase and Winter Oats.
