The Black Family.
This popular company of musicians gave one of their enjoyable entertainments at 1 11;' Theatre Koyal on Wednesday evening, and though tj-ipru was not such'a large, audience as the lierforniance dieserved, tihprc was no lack of enthusiasm on the part of those present. The Black Kainily are old favourites, and s'irtce their last visit here have introduced several novelties into their programme.. With the result that some surprising effoc.ts are produced. This was spe6iall.v noticeable n the case of M'iss Nellie Illaqk's violin playing, her imitation of the liogpi(>es. church organ, concertina, etc., being exceptionally clever and realistic. The concerted pieces were all loudly encorvd, ' the mandoline quartette receiving esjiecial commendation. The vocal items were render.-:! with capital eltect, as were also the instnimenial solos of Misses Elsie and N'ellie .lilack. Tho variety of ordinary ami extraordinary instruments used gave frivat *1"" light and amusement lo the audience, and the humorous portion of the entertainment was 'Hindi appreciated, Mr Hlack being particularly successful in that department. A pleasant change was amended by tho clever dancing of Miss - Klsie and Mr llert I'l-ick. . The versatality of this gift ed family is such that every member is a host in himself or herself, bene.' the thorough enjoyment which the performance gave to tile audience. Their next visit here will he looked forward to with cons dcruble pleasure! by all who were present on' Wednesday 'riight.
