Taranaki Education Board.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Education Board met on Wednesday. Mr Jas. Wade (Chairman) iresided, and there were also present -Mrs Dougherty, Messrs G. Adlum, j. H. Maunder, W. H. McDonald, J. Mackay, W. Monkhouse, and A. Morton. —Appointments.— The Chairman reported that since last mecUog he liad made the following appointments :—Raupuha, Mrs Warner, temporary teacher ; Urenui, Jliss Haddrell, temporary assistant ; Waiongona, Miss H'amcrton, assistant ; Urenui, Miss Hutcheson, assistant ; Upland Road, Miss Adamsom, assistant; Egniont Village, Miss Haddrell, assistant. The committees of the following schools had been granted leave to alter the dates of the usual mid-winler holidays Lincoln Road, Midhirst, Hurford Road, Huirangi, Kaimata, titration' and Urenui. The report was adopted. —.Selection Committee.— The selection committee reported twenty-two candidates for the Nor folk Road vacancy, seven for Awatuna, four for Durham Road,- two foi Matau and Purangi, one for Raupuha and one for Tongaporutu. Tit committee further recommended tha the Board leave in the hands oi Chairman, with power to act, appointments to Tongaporutu, Mak.iliu and Puniwhafcau —Architect's Report.— The architect (Mr James Sat.Oerson) reported Stratford.—The contract for the erection of fencing at the Technical • School grounds was well in hand. Okato.—The partition in the school was beiug attended to. He recommended that the shaft of the ehim- , neys be raised, at au estimated cost I of £5. Mangaroa and Matiere.—Plans had been prepared for these new schools, and tenders were being called in Auckland, Mangaroa and Matiere. Mahoe.—Tracings of the school had been made as required by the De- ' partmcnt in connection with the proposed addition to the school. New Plymouth—Tracings bad also been made of the West End and Fitzroy schools as required by the De--1 partmcnt. Pans had been ordered foi the three town schools, and plans ; would be prepared for the necessarv s buildings as soon as possible. The architect reported that the paws would be ready in from two to threi months. Painting.—All the painting contracts had been signed, and the worl was being done as the weather per mi t ted. Plans were being prepared at the .. request of the Department, showing t more recent schools being built r in the district.
