Evidence in support of tho petition was closed for the present, and Mr A. S. Adams spoke at some length, renewing the evidence! given, and contending that nothing hod been adduced to show that tho fairness of the poll had been affected. He then proceeded to cull rebutting evidence. , A watchmaker deposed he did not consider the town clock a perfectly reliable' timepiece.
The Deputy-Returning Officer at Sundtnount denied having said to an elector "l suppose you will strike out the top line."
The Deputy-Returning Officer at. j Pine «ill denied the irregularities! alleged, and said' the booth had i>cen "lese.l at seven by the school clock. This was corroborated by his daughter and the scrutineer for the "No-license" party. Several w tnesscs who voted at the Gardens booth denied that there was any confusion or obstruction, and said thoy had no trouble dn getting voting papers.
The inquiry was adjourned tili Tuesday morning.
