The Borough Work* Committee met on Thursday evening* Presents tfce Mayor (Mr H. Cock), and Crs. Will, Tiach, Burgess, Ewing. Brown, Opllis, Wilson and Brooking. The Engineer reported that Mill Iloud was in a bad condition, owing primarily to tho laying of the water mains. To put it in order the channels would require to be constructed on each side atad some gravel put down» The work, estimated to cost £2O, vu autfeCM'tfed. With regard to "Mr Biulot'a application to have certain laveUlngrwork done, the engineer reported that too cost would be £284 12b od. It w a » decided to take no, action at preMnt. The engineer reported with roicanf to laying water main* in WeUeoa Place and Barrett Street, for tte supply of tho whole locality. The work was authorise The proposed lajm'g of water meinii in Young Street wa« ordered to be deferred for tho l*esont.
The only tender received being considered exceMve (or the wtork ot t«rtinfcthe slope* ait the reservoir, the J engineer was authorised to deal with the matter.
It was agreed to Carry out repaint in Barrett Street, as rcqjuestod by the residents. The Education Board is to be informed that the borough solicitors have reported adversely on tfee proposal to Include oil the loan estimates a subsidy of £IOOO towards the erection of a technical school in Now Plymouth, but that the natter of making a grant out of revenue will bo considered later.
Mr Messenger's application for permission to put down a small suptie tank at Octaviue Place w«s referred to the engineer.
