High School Governors.
I'ho Board met on Wednesday. Present: Messrs MacDiann d, Berry, Fraser, Dockrill, and Wilson. Messrs Govett and Qullliaut wrote on behalf of Mr F. F. Hokin, relative to the terms of a renewal of the lease for section 110, block 7, Waitara, the current lease expiring in •September' next.—Deferred.
The Secretary of the Education Department wrote stating that the Inspector-General would shortly bo visiting New Plymouth, and could then discuss the Board's proposed amendments to the (rue scholarships regulation.

The local Lands l Office wrote stating that it was proposed to include part oi the Board'a reserve at Onae. 1 10 in a scenic reserve, and asking what terms tho Board would propose.
1U- Berry pointed out that the property .was at present let. and the tenant would have to be arranged wltn. Some discussion ensued as to whether cash or exchange would, be preferable, it being considered that an isolatl'd block of land would be undesirable.

ihe Dcpurtuient further acknowledged the (Board's resolution with regard to inconvenience caused by tho strictness of the ago limit for free tuition, adding that the matiier would receive attention.
The Chief Inspector of Schools, Wellington, wrote that the claas« tor drawing and dressmaking at the High School were recognised for 1905. The testimonials of Mrs Caukrodger, instructor of the dressmaking classes, were returned, with the intimation that they were quite satisfactory. It was mentioned in the secretary's communication to the Department that t«o instructress h<id no particular text book, hut taught on the same system as adopted in the technical school where she *as engaged in teaching in England. The Auditor-General certified to the balance-sheet) for the year ending December 31, but attached a "tag" in regard to one ; item.
