Those of the present generation whose memories of tho wharf date back ten or fifteen years, or pven further, says the Dunedin Star, will easily remember the barqija Kassa. In the days when the trade of the port was not largely concentrated into a •omparativcly few vessels of big tonnage, ibut was carried by an imposing array of smaller vessels, which used to line the whole wharves, sometimes double-banked, she was a familiar visitor. Today, as she lies at 'the Rattray Street wharf, it is difficult to realise, after looking her over, antdf especially after noting her well-ap-pointed cabin, that she is thirty-six years old. On her last visit to llobart, when she was docked, refitted 1 , recaulked, and rccoppcrcd, it was found that her timbers were everywhere ctuite sound—a somewhat elo quont testimony to the durability ol ,teak and royal oak. As a handy vessel at sea she has her points, too, as was shown in September, 1903, when her rudder was carried away in tho Tasman Sea. On that occasion her present skippes, Captain llrown, sailed her 800 miles on n jury rudder hastily put into position. A photograph showing thit rudder being hoisted out after the bnrgue's arrival in Dunedin is one of the ornaments of her cabint:
