MESSRS BEWLBY &, GRIFFITHS' '. RKPORT. Messrs Bewley and Griffiths, dairy -.produce exporters, are in receipt oi the following: market report from ' their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated April 28, 1905 : Butter.—lt seems impossible tu slay the downward trend of the market and the shipments of Colonial now arriving will meet a poor markef. The Silbej-ian, contrary to all ,4 reports and expectations have come to hand quickly. The Russian Government is evidently doing all possible to get the butters through. Nest • jTOek there are 5000 casks, equal la over 10,000 boxes. This is not a , wery large quantity, but the increase is sudden and unexpected, and the prices quoted are low. Saoish.—Although there is a very much better trade and a good dN ■nand, the quotation has been reduced four kroners, this with a view) to meet the severe competition of the New, Zealand now arriving! French.—At the reduction mentioned in our "last, troyers have increased their orders, and, the .quantity still s£ being on jthe* small side, some oi these wift be only partly ulled r every; j.week, however, sees a difference in the supply, and it will not be long bolore French agents have to follow ' the others, and' still further reduce prices. .Victorian.—Very few. are now arrive ing, and the few landed ex Suevic were very poor quality as a whole. None of the regular factories. shipped by ths boat. New South Wales.—Quality verj( irregular, ..many factories showing]; at marked .falling off, in flavour parti-' cularly ; these factories are now taking quite a secondary place. Queensland.—Very few are on tip market, the shipment ex Rippmghajm Orange having, cleared up promptly,. as quality and condition ,wero up to) rvious standards'. The Damjiscua tile next steamer due,' and buyers [who have got on to the Queensland are waiting her arrival; many buyers do not! like to change until absolutely forced to do so. New Zealand.—Quality Is very pleasing, and buyers are still taking] their regular though at the, reduced prices. It is a great pity the market has been dragged down in the way it has. . At current flotations New Zealand butters are intrinsically by far the cheapest offering.
