Exploits of a Maniac.

SAN" FRANCISCO, Hay 18. Armed with a rifle, revolver, and dirk, each - of which he used with deadly dexterity, a drunU-Crazed man at San Diego killed twq men, a boy,and a woman, and wounded two other persons, and finally blew oil ihe top of his own head, dying within n few minutes. Three of the vie!i: ms lived in the same house with the slayer. The fourth person whom ho killed, and two who were wounded, resided half a mile away and it was in their house that the maniac took bis own life. The man who enacted this ghastly tragedy was W. I>. It is known, however, that he was a drunkard, that he was intensely interested in tho Nihilist movement in Russia, and that against two or three of his victims ho had'some petty grievances. On tlic other hand he is said to have been an ordinarily good-natured man, and inclined to be generous. The general supposition is tlmt drink and brooding over Nihilism brought on an attack of homicidal mania. The dead are William Stewart, Mrs Emma Stewart, H. W. Chase, Harry Doddrklge, and W. I'. Kobinson. In addition to these Mrs H. W. Doddridge is probably fatally wounded.
