EMPLOYERS' ASSOCIATION.

NEED FOR ORGANISATION. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June (5. 'lite Executive of the Wellington Employers' Aasociation, in its'report for the year ending April 30, congratulates members on the position attained. In numbers and usefulness the Association continues to grow. It began tho year w.itb a membership of 252 and ended it with 275. The ideal is un association in which every employer in the ci ty has a place, and the active sympathy of the present membership is solicited in order that this goal may bo speedily reached. The gross income for the year was £385 and the expenditure £379. The most recent work of the federation has been the tabulating and issuing of resolutions of the Easter Trades nnd Labour Council Conference. These were distributed to all Employers' Associations. Their replies have been galhored, und tho federation is taking suitable action to present nnd press the employers' views on matters raised. The report concluded : "Whilst your committee wishes to make perfectly clear thu fact that the Association is in no sense inimical to the Just rights! of workers, we wish kilso to express our unabated nnd deepening conviction that organisation of employers was never morn necessary than now. Experience of the working of our labour laws proves that they have not been the blessing prophesied, They have not satisfied unions, lessoned friction, or Riven employers security. On the other hand there exis-ts a widespread sense of dissatisfaction, uncertainty, and fear, whilst the whole community feels tlie increased cost of living. Organised labour, as represented at the Easter Conference, still cries aloud for further concessions and privileges, and in almost every trade fresh awards with higher wages, shorter hours, etc., ore being sought. I'nder these circumstances organisation is imperative, and members arc urged to ussist the executive in extending the membership of the Association until the whole employing interest is joined." j
