A quiet stranger who entered llie Hank ol England recently gave a mild Mi o ck to a cashier to whom lie proson ted an uncancelled Treasury bill of £IOO, dated 17-I,}, and signed "Wall>ole." As the date and month of issue were not filled in, (he presenter, Mr •J. Louis, Stamp dealer, Moorhatestreet, was referred to the Treasury . He has since been advised that there is no doubt as to its genuineness Jior as to the Treasury's liability. Further, it is believed that the bill was issued at H.per cent, compound interest.
