PERSONAL NOTES.
The Wellington Corporation Library Committee recommend the appointment of Miss Nunncley as assistant, librarian at the Central Free Public Library. Miss Nunneley is well known throughout Now Zealand as the champion lady tennis player. 1 Mr Dryden, late third oflicer on lhe I steamer Takapuna, takes up iv simi--1 lur position on (lie steamer Mannpouri this week, Mr Mollonald, late of the latter steamer, succeeded Mr Dryden on the Takapuna. Miss Small, on leuving the Whenuakiiru school for Manaia, was presenter! by the head teacher and scholars with a handsome gold necklet, greenstone Maltese cross nn d pendnnl.also cream jug and basin by the Masters Symes. Mr 11. Hates, purser on the steamer Takapuna, has a month's vacation which is to be spent in sightseeing at Hotorua and other places of interest. During his absence his place will be taken by Mr Moycs, late of the steamer Moana. The employees oi Arch. Clark and Sons, Limited, on Monday presented Mr Hurry (.'. Clurk with a handsome solitcl silver salver,* suitably iln'serilije:l, the occasion being his approachjing marriage with Miiss Thompson, daughter of Mr Herbert Thompson, of Ohristchurch. Mr C. 11. Xealc, M.K.C.V.S., has been appointed manager of the dishorn? abattoirs, which are now ready for use.
It is rumoured that Lieutenant Pickering, Hoyal Naval ltegistrar, has been appointed to the command of the training-ship Sparrow. A memorial is to be erected in Gisborne to the late Mrs Sievwright, ol that town. Mrs Sievwright was well known throughout New Zealand as an advocate of social purity. Miss Hose Musgiovc was stricken with typhoid at Sydney last week, and is now a patient in a nursing home. Miss Musgiovc was playing in "The Cingalee" up till the time of falling ill. On Saturday evening, as Mr and Mrs Penny were returning home from Kit limn in a gig, the horse stumbled and fell. The occupants of the gig were thrown out. Mrs Penny escaped unhurt, but Mn .Penny was lesn fortunate, and (l messenger was sent for I'r. Xoonuti, who found Unit Mr Penny had broken one of his ribs and seve.re.lj' injured bii> sjioujder.
