It seems that the Opposition, policy, which has .been so curcfully c„nceiiled jll these years, is little more than a pai'uphnso of, the Government policy. It is only on the land ici'icstion that '-here is any .serious difference, and wen here Mr Massey is not indispos>d 1o consider a compromise. If any ippropiation has taken place it has been on the part of the Opposition, 'which no longer inveighs against labour legislation, the resumption of land, cheap money, old age pensions and the rest, but quietly claims their, ill as its own.—Chrislchmch Times. The Melbourne police recently discovered two vast stores of stolen properly. About a : month ago a man named MeKane, who kept a secondhand shop, was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen properly, and his business premises were found to contain great quantities of it. The second arrest was made within a few day/, and has led to further as- j tounding disclosures. William Smith of Duke street, Collingwood.the per-, son arrested, has now been called upon to answer HO defined charges of larcrny, burglary, etc. His private residence was fitted out from one end to another with stolen property, and apparently" when the house room became 100 crowded, as bis store of other people's property increased, ho met the difficulty by adding additional rooms to his house, build ing a fern-house here, and a coachhouse there, and the timber used was nearly all stolon. A search on the premises disclosed four bicycles and a motor cycle. There, were dozens of pieces of garden hose of varying lengths. In every room thero was a. charming collection of bric-a-brac. Clocks of all descriptions crowded every available mnnllcpicCf. In a pavilion at the side of the house was a phaeton, and as it was too big to get through tlie door, the police think' that Smith', after drasg'ng- the stolen vehicle hotne, built a pavilion round it. Amongst the many articles restored to vie tints was a set of teeth long since given up as lost.
