'(Yeadwell, it \ of llawera, gave an ü ble discourse"™ John Knox as "Preacher, Theologian, and Ecclesiastic." lie traced the conversion and work of the divine •and pointed out what Knox had ac- i complished by reason of his indomitable courage. Calvin was intellectually his superior, and Luther, his great co-worker in Germany, may have been more humane and gentle, but so far ~s Courage went, Knox ranked tho highest, and was responsible lor; tho thoroughness of Ihe lieformation which took place in Scotland.

The liev. William White, M.A., of Waverley,, gavo a well-studied address on '"Knox as Educational Reformer." He demonstrated the position in which Knox found education, and his efforts to place a liberal ■sound education within the reach of all.-

The Chairman apologised for the absence through indisposition of tht ltov. W. H. Philip, of Manaia. who was to have given an address on 'Knox as Christian Hero and PaItriot."

lluring the evening a number of appropriate and enjoyable musical items were rendered, the programme including Song, "The March of th*e Cameron Men," Mr Wilson ; song, "The Atild Hoose, ' Airs Haddrell quartette, "There Grows n Ronnie Hriar Bimh," Mrs llacon. Miss- MacDlarmid, Messrs J. Gray, and N. Mclsaac ; song, "Loch Lomond," Mrs Nesbit Smith, and as an encore "Who Can Say song, "My Nannie's Awa/," Mr . Sinclair. ' Misses Perry and Gideon were the accompanists. The ladies of the congregation kindly handed round refreshments.

Air AlacDiarmid moved a hearty vote of thanks to the Revs. Treadwell and White for their interesting and instructive discourses. This was carried by acclamation.

The Tfev. W. White, on behalf of the Presbytery, thanked those responsible for arranging the celebration.

Votes of thanks to the ladies, thc| concort performers, the Press, and tho Chairman were recorded. The hymn "God of Our Fathers" was sung, und' after (ho Benediction, "Auld Lang 1 Syne" concluded the proceedings.
