Mr F. Stohr, who has been seriously ill with pneumonia, is reported to be now out of danger.

Mr C. Robertson,, of Omata, Southland, has been appointed manager of the Xgairo dairy factory. Mr M. T. West, the present manager, is leaving for Dalefield, Wairarapa.

Mr Julius Knight, the popular actor, has contracted typhoid fever in Sydney. Mr Marry I'limmcr, formerly oi Wellington, was called upon to play the leading parts with Mr Williamson's Dramatic Company pending; Mr Knight's recovery.

On arrival he was besieged by Interviewtrs, photographers, and personal, friends, all anxious to learn his plans. Although not on a political mission in that country, Dr. Nansen's whole inind is occupied with the present crisis that has arisen between Norway and Sweden on the question of a separate consular system for Norway ; but he conlied that when the political critfis is over, he way lead an expedition to (he An-= .tartic.
