A Young Man Missing.

LOST ON MOUNT EOMONT. Orave fears are entertained for (lie safety of a young man named King, who has been missing, sine.' 10 o'clock on Monday morning, when he set oil from the Mountain House to climb Mount Egmont. King is' about 27 years of age, and has. not been long out. from England. He has lately been working on a farm *in the Manaia district, and owing to poor health he was advised to take a .sojourn at the Mou»tain| House, and arrived there on Friday. As he did not return from his outing by Monday evening, Mr Morris, caretaker at the Mountain, House, became anxious, and made an unsuccessful sc.ucii, but owing to darkness setting in had to return aiter proceeding- some distance beyond Humphries Castle. Mr Morris sent word to the Inglewood police, and early on Tuesday morning Constable Duddy went out to join in liic vigorous search instituted. Mr Carrington, of the Lands and Survey Department, who is wolf conversant with the ground, also proceeded to the Mountain on Tuesday afte noon. Up to a late hour last night no information had come to hand, so that presumably the search has been fruitless so far. 1 1 appears that King made the ascent against the ad vie- of Mr Morris, who urged him not to venture on tho expedition In such bad weather. The weather has been very unfavourable this last two or three days, and unless King su<jccdt<d in descending the mountain at some other point and finding friendly shelter, it is fearod that he must have perished.
