THE DISPUTE WITH BURTS'.
THE UNION'S VIEW. (Per Press Association.) DCNEIUX, May 11. The secretary of the Metal Workers' Union writes that the explanation of Messrs A. and T. Burt, Ltd., as to the dismissal of their men Is one-sided. As secretary ho had oc•asion to apply to the Chairman of the Conciliation Board for a decision on certain points. Four men gave evidence in favour of the contention of the Union. Within two mom lis of the decision of tho Chairman being given these four men wcrtf dismissed. Tho secretary contends | that the plea now put forward for the dismissal of two of the men, namely, breach of discipline, is on after-thought. As to the case lieing sub judice, the secretary says action was taken, but by some unaccountable means the case was missed at the last sitting of the Court, and as far as the Union 'is concerned, will not be proceeded with, us evidence necessary to prove its ca»o is not now available.
