Father Hayes.
Presentation By Cttholics. (Per Press Association.) WESTPOHT, May 11. Tho Rev. Father Hayes has concluded his temperance crusade in' Wcstport, over live hundred having/ taken his temperance pledge. This morning he celebrated Mass at S£* Canice's Roman Catholic Church. A'ti an outcome of a public meeting of Roman Catholics, held the other evening to form , a reception committee, a large and enthusiastic demonstration waft held to-day in the Catholic School, when Father Hayes was publicly welcomed, and presented on behalf of the Roman Catholic congregation of Westport with an illuminated address and gold cross. In acknowledging the presentation Father Hayes spoke in very encouraging terms of the splendid success which had everywhere attended his work in New Zealand. Ho urged the Catholics to take their place in the social life of the colon}', and be steadfast and useful citizens.
