Tho Mayor is on a visit to Wanganui for tt few days. Mr J. Hard castle, of the Timaru Herald stall, is on a visit to New Plymouth. Mr A. J. Walker, electrical inspector for tho Underwriters' Association, is paying one of his periodical visits to New Plymouth. Mr Thomson, of the Public Works Department, was in town on Wednesday. During the day he inspected the rifle range at Waiwakaiho. Mr Price has accepted the charge of the school ut Whangnmoinona under the Taranaki Education Board. He was for many years headmaster >' the South Oamaru school.

The fniends of Mr C. Gill, of Oka to, who had six weeks in the hospital suffering from typhoid, will be pleased to hear that he is now able to ■Jfet about.

Mr A. Prangley, chief steward on the s.s. Itarawa, is at present enjoying his vacation. During his absence '.rom the steamer his position will be occupied by Mr I). Johnston, the second Stewart.
