O'Connell, of M«i&terton, was run over by the (>A"t p.m. train tor LyttdHon at the Christohurch railway station to-day. Mrs Vrendorgast, who resides at lleatlicote Valley, was returning from iher son's marriage, and got on tho platform oi a second-class caiv riiago near the engine. Just as the train started she attempted to aligfait, but fell between the moving train and the station platform. The romaining carriages passed over her logs below the knees. Dr. Diamond arrived about seven o'clock to find' Mrs Prcndergast in a moribund condition, and sho diod about half an hour afterwards.

A young man named Lindsay was admitted to the New Plymouth hospital last night, from Inglewood, suffering from injuries to his eye aa the result of an accident whilst out
shooting. The extent of his injury was not ascertainable last evening. A cadet named Samuel Richards, employed at the Government railway station, Thorndon, Ml between tho railway platform and an incoming train from Lower llutt, on Tuesday night. He was dragged a distance of about ten feet, but fortunately escaped with nothing worse than a few bruises and a nasty wound on one of his knees. Richards' parents reside at New Ply mouth.
