John "Gunn succeeded, and lost Jones at 72. Jones' innings was marked by skilful self-restrained play in both cutting and driving. Three for 123.
Gunn played forward, and was caught by Darling at deep square leg off Armstrong. Four for 1H:1. Dixon was nil. Simpson joined Dixon, but the partnership was of short duration. Dixon, with six to his credit, played back, and was bowled by McLeod. Five for 144. Simpson was bowled bv Cotter. Six for 147. Day only contributed a single when Cotter got one amongst his sticks. Seven for 156. Hardstaff 6. Oates joined him, but .after making soven he skied one to Cotter at mid-off, the latter taking the catch.
The Australians have lost two Wickets for 133.
