Tataraimaka.
The election of two members to fill the vacancies on the Tataraimaka Road Hoard took place at the school house on the 4th iust. Considerable interest was taken, this being the first election held since the boundares of the district were altored. Only one of the retiring members offered himself for re-election, viz., Mr I'enwarden ; the other, two candidates were Mr O. Oxenham, for the beach end of tho district,; and Mr W. Salmon, junr., who stood for the upper or bush portion. The voting was very close, the figures being Mr Salmon 21, Mr renwarden 32, and Mr Oxonham 21; one informal vote.
The annual meeting of ratepayers was held on the evening of tho 4th at 7.80 p.m., there 'being fifteen ratepayers present. Mr J. Penwarilen occupied the choir. The balancesheet for the year was read, and adopted on the motion of Mr 0,. Honeylield, seconded by Mr Lints. A credit balance of £7 13s- 4d was shown, after allowing for all accounts up to date. Mr Ponwardcn then enumerated tho work that had been done during the year, especially the amount of work done gratis bv Mr 0. Honeylield. He also spoke of the n-ble assistance rendered hy Mr U. Priskc. The Clerk notified the result of the poll, when Mr W. Salmon thanked the ratepayers for "lacing him a t -the head of the poll. Mr Pen warden thanked them for their renewed confidence ir. h'im, and said he interfiled acting in lh e future as m the past, and he hoped the Hoard would still keep on the three-eighths ol a penny rate for another vear or two (o a.riow some more useful and <W necessary work ho be done, after which they eouM revcrt to oW rate of one farthing.
