Mr and Mrs Huckleton left Auckland for Sydney on Monday on a holiday trip. Messrs John Lashbrook and A. O. Butcher have been elected, unopposed, ns mombers of the Carrington Road Board.
Constable Buttimore is taking Corn-table lleattie's place at Waitara while the lutter is absent on holidny leave. Mr C. -L. MiicDiormid, late of New Plymouth, who is practising as a solicitor in Hamilton, Waikato, has been elected us a member of the local Borough Council. The Wanganui Herald reports that Mr John Tiller met with a painful accident lost week when feeding his iiorse, one of hi* fingers being bitten oil by the animal.
Dr Neild. who recently retired from the position uf lecturer on forensic medicine at tho Melbourne University after 40. years' service, bus been presented with a testimonial fund of £155.
Mr King, M.A., h'is been appointed ''rojn the IVtono High School to the Terrace High School. Mr Lynskey, of the Petonc State School, is to succeed him in charge of the High School.
The Hon. E. W. O'Sullivan, exMinister for Public Works, New South Wales, arrived from Wellington by Wednesday's mail train, en route to Auckland, staying for the night at the White Hart Hotel, in order to meet Sir John Sec.' exPremier of the same colony, who arrived by the Rotoiti from Auckland this morning, pn rpute to Wellington.
Among the persons touring the colony under the auspices of Messrs f. Cook and Sops are Mr Robert 11. I'erf.house, of London ; Mr VV. E. Watkin, AS.A., of London : Mr S. W. Willinck, of the Isle of Wight; all of whom arrived by the Gothic. Other tourists are Mr and Mrs Croydsdale, of London ; Mr W. M. Head, of Cambridge : Mr CD. Hurst, of llnllynalinck. Ireland ; Miss and Miss E. Hounsell, of London ;and Mr 11. Hoiialnnin. of Leeds.
A very pleasant little ceremony took plaice after Sunday school at Otukoho on Sunday Inst, when Miss R. Dunstow was presented by Mr Mills, the superintendent of the Sunday school, with a handsome Hiblc from her fellow teachers. The three Misses Dunstow have been presented hy their OtakYho friends with silver thimbles as mementoes of the many pleasant times spent there.
