Large lields shoula bo the order of the day, judging by the acceptances. The programme opens with the Longlands Hack Hurdles, one mile and three-quarters, for which 1 like Sleepwell. This mare showed good form at Feilding last week. In tho next event, the Autumn Handicap, one mile, the top weight. Full Cry, should take a power of beating. Polyanthus has been responsible for some fair performances this season, and will no doubt be dangerous ; of the others Rcsa Madder and Whakawihi are the best. The finish may be—Full Cry 1, Polyanthus 2, Rose Madder 3.

No less than twenty-three arc nominated for the Maiden Hack, six furlongs. The "winner may come from Aorangi, Captain Shannon, llipporoffla.

The Hawkc's Bay Cup, one mile and a quarccr, is the next event. The valuable Cup presented by Mr G. P. Donnelly will become the property of the owner of the winner of this race. I fail to see what can beat the Taranaki champion, Slaniopoto. Madrigal and Flamcn maybe the place getters. The Karamu Hurdles look open. Trumpery or Evening may prevail. In the Nursery Handicap, live furlongs, I like Aoraiigi, if reserved, with Contender and Dalny next in order. A field of nineteen appear on the sard for the l'oukawa Hack, five furlongs. As several claim previous engagements the scratching pen will be in evidence-. St. Biil, Eone, Spark, and Tondcrghie are a likclj ijuartette, and I will place St. Bill 1, Tondcrghie.2, Eone 3. The Porangahau Handicap, six furlongs, is the last iteni for the first day. Wei Reef, on Feilding form, should have a say in the finish, which may result in Wet Keel" J, The Stake 2, Ziska 3. NOTES BY ■•MOTUHOA." At the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting on Saturday, held on the Takapuna racecourse, the stewards administered a caution to Julian, rider of Fashionable in the Autumn Handicap, for crossing in the early part of the race. From the account given in the Auckland papers the cross appears to have been deliberate, and Julian can thank his lucky stars that he is not in the same box as L. H. Hewitt. The thrcc-ycar-old Gladstone was secured last June by Ijis present owners, Messrs Simmelhag and Jackson, for 400 guineas. The colt has been a profitable investment, having won the Ayondale Guineas, A.R.C. Summer Cup, Great Northern Derby, and Autumn Handicap. With place money added, - his winnings to date total £1785. Owners are reminded that acceptances for Christchurch B.C. Autuum meeting are due to-day, and for Eginont R.C. winter meeting to-mor-row, Thursday, at 9 p.m.
