Mr C 15. Major, M.H.lt., is at Wellington attending to various inatteis connected with hi; electorate. Mr A. Talbot, M.A., of ICnmura, has "ten appointed assitant-inas-l«r at the' G ivy town State School. Mr 11. C. Hrewer, who lately occupied the position of Registrar of t,ho Supremo Court at Auckland, is visiting New Plymouth.
Lady I'uikos lert Sydney fiir England on April IT in the White Star linar Knnic, on a six months' holiday. She will for a time be a guest of Sir I'owcll Buxton, late (lovernor of Soulh Australia, The friends of Mr (!. Benncut, sen., of Jnglewood (father of Mr (!. \V. Beftnett, a Borough Councillor) will regret to hear of his death, which occurred at the age of 72. The deceased who root with an accident some lititile time ago, from which he never recovered, was: widely esteemed in the district.
Miss B. Leslie, a young Austral lian composer, loft Sydney on' April 17 for London by the steamer Runic. She is taking, with her a number of unpublished compositions, omong which is an "Ave Maria," which will bo sung by a well-known singer. She intends continuing her studies there, and hopes to go later to Vienna or the United States,
