FIU&AY, APIUL 28, (Before Mr T. Hutchison, S.M.) —Fraudulent Conversion.— A young man named Charles X. Clark, who had been arrested by Detective Benjamin at New Plymouth on Wednesday, was charged with having fraudulently converted to his own use the sum of £3 10s, which
was handed to him .by It. Hraßc, of Riccarton, on February Bth, to pay to his employers, Messrs Taylor and Gafclcy. of Christchu»<:h. Accused admitted his guilt, and asked to be dealt with summarily. The S.M. pointed out that hecouid not deal with the case, and remanded accused, in custody, lo appear at Clfristchurch. —Maintenance.—
Daniel Biosnan, of Knponga,, desfliabed as, a labourer, failed to ai>pear to show cause why he »hould not con/tribute towards the support of an illegitimate male child. Evidence having been tendered by tho complainant and her parents, the. Magistrate made an order against the defendant for payment of 5s per weok, and all expenses in connection with ifo confinement, together witH 103 costs ol th« pro* ccedings, —Civil Cases.— Judgment by dofault was entered in 4iach of the following cases : 0. Appleymd v. A. T. Frank, claim £l6 IGs, costs £1 10s (id ; 1). Tood v. A. Thomas, claim £2 Is 9d, costs 5k ; Myth and Co. v. H. W. I'Tynn, claim £4, costs .-)S ; .7. McCullum v.
