■Judge Kettle has returned fo Auckland alter 'an extended holiday. Drs. A. liosking and W. S. Koss have_bien appointed joint, hospital surgeons to Mnsterton Hospital: Mr YV. T. Jennings, M.11.U., returned from the tour of the northern part of his electorate on Monday.
Mr J. s. Larke, Commissioner for Canada to the Common-wealth, was a passenger for Vancouver by the Manuku.
Mr James Mitchell, for many years on the literary staff of tho Oainaru Mail, will contest the Oamaru seat against (,hp Minister for Lands. J Tie Promlc-r and Mrs Seddon arrived at Chrifitchurch from Timaru on rhursday, and left for Wellington by the evening steamer.
Mr .J ames' Slight, one of the oldest settlers in the Marlon district, died at Marton on Saturday last, at tho | advanced age of 86 years. , Mr c. L. Ilussell has consented'to become a candidate for the I.yttellon electorate, at present represented by Mr G. l.aurenKiin.
