At a meeting of the Harbour Board to-day a communis,ilion vas received from the mripm.rJicrs' Association, enclosing a t-cale <>f salaries which, it was suggested should be adopted for th<? vetww.'C'tUofl of harbourmasters, pilots, tug and drodgennasterK. It waP pointed out that othel- boards were being approached on thy subject. The rates of pay proposed for the principal Ports were : Harbourmasters £SOO per annum, chief pilots £350, tug or dredgejirasiters £2BO. The iwcrot(iry of the Boand explained that by the system of unnual incromenU? now in force, officers in Wellington .would by next year fee receiving the amounts it was suggested should be paid, except xvith regard to the junior of three pilots.
