This was the general verdict when, Mr George Darrell (whom the Messrs MacMahon are introducing with their new company to New Plymouth) first produced his fumous drama, "Tho Sunny South," at the Grand Theatre, Islington). Its run and siibsoi|uent ruvivals beat all records for amy piece of Australasian -stagecraft in tho world's\metropoliN, and established it beyond all iqueslion as a standard dramatic work. Its subsequent success throughout the I,'nited States, Australia, and New Zealand, with Mr Durrell always in his favourite character of the hero. Mat Morley, has never waned, and "The Sunny South"'is considered today to toe a most comprehensive and stirring picture of Australian life and local colour that will mako it endure in dramatic literature. The season l , which is limited to throe nights, will conunence on, Monday evening next with the first and only performance of "The Sunny South." On Tuesday 'AThe Bond to Uuin " will be staged, '"The Sorrows of Satan " being announced for presentation on Wednesday. The box plan is now open at D. McKinnon Bain's Music Warehouse.
