RUSSIA'S TRIALS.
ASSASSINATION PLOTTED. COSSACKS AT ST. PETERSBURG. A TERRIBLE THREAT. (Received April 17, 9.32 p.m.) St. PETERSBURG, April 17. The police discovered n plol to assassinate General Alaksimovilch, Go-vernor-General of Warsaw. Several sotnias of Don Cossacks havu reinforced the St. Petersburg garrison. The Putaloff works have been closed. Strikers at Elizabethpol threaten to resort to bombs. Troops between Moscow and I)a----zan are guarding many estates.
PRISONERS HARSHLY TREATED. THREE SENTENCED TO DEATH. 600 IN DUNGEONS. (Received April 17, 9.24 p.m.) St. PETERSBURG, April 17. Eight workmen, arrested during the January riots, were harshly treated in the Warsaw citadel, and have been removed to the hospital terribly emaciated and in a dying condition. A Court-martial sentenced three others to death for wounding a policeman during the riots. There are indications that 600 people, including many Polish patriots, and other political suspects, arc incarcerated in the dungeons at Warsaw. This is stated in view of the fact that the authorities asked for the immediate supply of GOO beds for prisoners. i
