SAFES DYNAMITED.
CREDITED TO AN AUCKLAND ' GANG. (Per Press Association.) CHRIBTCHURCH, April 9. The Atnibertey railway station, 34 miles north of Christchurch, was broken into on Saturday night. Two safes were dynamited, and £9tt in notes, goM and silver, and £9O worth of postal notes were stolen. The telephone transmitters were also . taken, and the wires cut a short distance south of Amberloy. These, boweven. were repaired by the linomen on duty on Sunday morning, and when spare transmitters were attached the information was talephoned to Christchurch. A full staff of detectives left for Amberloy by special train at noon. The burglary appears. to be the work a a dangerous" gang, for the Hornby railway station was similarly broken into last Saturday night. It Is surmised an Auckland gang have started work in and around Christchurch.
