Tho autmnm meeting of the Wellington Boeing- Club, which opened to-day, was Uio worst on record in the annals of the club, as regards attendance, fields, sport a tid speculation. What elements contributed to this is hurd to define, beyond thi fact that the boisterous weatbor affected the attendance, and consequently speculation was reduced, but why only 37 homes should have taken pin t in the eight races comprising the programme is bard to explain, l'oaiibly the fact of the club changing its dates, and racing before Easter instead of after as heretofore, way have had something to do with it. Last year on Um first day £BH9O went through the totalise tor, but to-day only £0687 was registered, including £B7O on lie douible machine, which paid a dividend of £2!) on Signalman and Boris, winners of the Thompson and iiailwuy Handicaps respectively.
