Mi' J. George was a passenger to Onehiinga last night.

Mr G. Tisch, Chairman of the Taranaki Hospital Hoard, was confined to his bed yesterday.

The Pope has recognised (formerly approved) Uishop Higgins. who lias been transferred from RocMampton to Uaillorut.

The Prince of Wales has been appointed Grand. Master of the Most Uistiniguished Order of St. Michael and St. George, in succession to the late Ihiko of Cambridge.

Mr It. L, Mestajor, consulting engineer to the Borough Council, is up from Wellington on a visit of inspection in connection with the sewage and waterworks scheme. Mr E. W. Waeitney, of the National Hank here, proceeded north last night en route, to Kotorua, whore he will stay for a month. It is hoped that the change will completely restore him to health.

Mr Percy J. O'llrien arrived in New Plymouth yesterday to arrange for the forthcoming season of the Van llienu Company, ja "The Broken I Melody." Mr P. Hughes-, mlvnuger for Mr Musgrove, will arrive this morning,: Staff-Sergeant Major Sanderson, on behalf of Mrs Sanderson, was on Monday presented with a marble clock, suitably inscribed, as a smart 'gift from the Taranaki Guards. Captain -Mills made the presentation, and expressed the wish for the future prosperity of Staff-Sergeant Major and Mi's Sanderson.
