THE FIRE AT WAIKOUAITI.
—• IHJXEniX, March 29. An inquiry was held to-day into the. circumstances connected with \be recent fire at the Palmerston and Waikoua|iti Times office. The evidence was to the effect that the pror prietor of the paper heard of alleged misconduct'by the local photographer, and was told the latter suspected him of tel'ing the giri's parents. A youth who sometimes worked for the photographer aUeged that the latter had invited him to go with him and burn down the place. Another witness stated in connection w,tlh a letter in the paper that the photographer had said something to the effect that the way to stop that kind of thing was to set fire to the place. The photographer denied this. The jury returned' a \crdict that the place had Veil wilfully bet on lire, but that tba evidence was not strong enough to attach - blame to any person.
