A meeting of the Council of the Churches approved the action of the Senate 01; the Iniversity of Now Zealand in determining to giant degrees in divinity. It was resolved to ask newspaper proprietors to refuse publication of notices of Tattersalls sweeps, and also to ask the candidates for the Wellington by-electioji their views with regard to abolishing the tot-alisntor.
