LONDON, March 25. Obituary. Jules Verne, the famous author, aged 76. - (Though Jules Verne included ojnongst his readers men of all nation!), -jet fcia -works appealed most to fhe younger folß, who found n his scientific romances much to in-> tercst and instruct them. He was born and educated in Nantes, afleiv .warda studying law". His first literary pieces were comedies and comic operas. But his fame rests chiefly on his scientific romances, the first oi! which appeared in l»6o, under the title of "Five Weeks in a Balloon.'' Other notable works arc : "A Journey to the Centre of the Earth, "- "Twenty Thousand Leagues t'nder the Sea," "A Voyage to the Moon," "Hound the World in Eighty Days." Most of his works have been translated * inlo English and other lanKauges*, even into Japanese and Arabic.)
