STARTLING STATEMENTS. (Received March 25, 1.18 a.m.') SYDNEY, March 24. A deputation of the Public Morals Association asked the Chief Secretary to introduce legislation checking street immorality and suppressing houses of ill-fame. Startling •s-tatemcnts were made of the growing immorality, and the Increase of houses of ill-fame. It is alleged that two thousand fallen women are plying on the streets of the city and many young girls arc in the hftuseß. The deputation asked that owners made responsible for the character of their houses. Mr Hogue promised Cabinet consideration oi the sub.'cct, which he said was most diflicult to deal with. It would pcr- • haps re-appear in a worse form.
