There has lately been struck in England, to the order of Loud UanI'uily, a modal to commemorate the trip through Tuhoelaml, which His Loi'dship nvade shortly before his departure l'rom this colony. The hospitable treatment he received from the native chiefs on that occasion made a lasting impression, and Lord Hanfurly has had fifteen medals struck, for presentation to the chiefs and others who made his tour so pleasant. The medal is a copy of a family'heirloom which our late Governor found,' oil his return to his old family Seat at Dungarron. Jt was designed by the Earl of Charlmont, who was the founder of the volun>teer movement. One of the medals has been forwarded to 3lr Malcolm Ross, who accompanied him on the expedition, and the Hon. James Carroll, Native Minister, has been deputed to present the balance on Lord Ranfurly's behalf to the cliiefs indicated. In an accompanying letter to the chiefs, the donor of the medals speaks of tha kindly hospitality tendered to him by them, and expresses himself that though the Sea of Khvu now separates 'them his interest is not one jot abated thoreby.
